California faces a “burning” question: what are the most effective and efficient ways to keep our communities safe and our ecosystems healthy as we face the rise of catastrophic fires and the devastating impacts to human life, property, and the environment? We believe that the wisdom to tackle these challenges lies within our communities, and we bring decades of experience building local climate resilience through collaborative, community-driven approaches. Our team brings together forestry and wildfire experts, state and local agencies, community organizers, and community members to learn from each other and take action together.
Currently, our work is focused on supporting the launch and ongoing effectiveness of Fire Safe Councils in Lake Sonoma and Calistoga, as well as the development of a “playbook” that captures insights and best practices for other Fires Safe Councils and community-based fire resilience projects throughout the state. We know firsthand what’s possible when multiple stakeholders unite around a common cause, and we’re committed to integrating the wealth of insight and perspectives that exist throughout California so that our collective efforts have the most positive impact possible.
