Building a Vibrant Food System

AIN Joins Forces with the Sustainable Food Lab

January 2009 Two leaders in the effort to find win-win solutions to moving the global food system to a more economically sound, environmentally friendly, and socially equitable footing have joined forces. Ag Innovations Network, which has been leading dialogues and igniting change for a better food system for California since 2000 and the Sustainable Food Lab, a leader in working with major companies in the global food system to inspire and support implementation of sustainability initiatives are now working together as a single organization.

The newly formed Alliance hopes to be of even greater service to the growing efforts to build a food system that delivers better results for farmers, workers, companies, and the environment. Ag Innovations Network will be bringing its expertise in creating effective multi-stakeholder collaborations and its deep experience in California agriculture to the Sustainable Food Lab’s projects and members. The Sustainable Food Lab will be bringing its expertise in sustainable supply chains, climate change, and most importantly knowledge of the unique challenges faced by the largest companies in the food industry to Ag Innovations Network.

Joseph McIntyre will continue to serve as the president of Ag Innovations Network, which becomes the fiscal sponsor and legal umbrella for the joint effort. Hal Hamilton and Don Seville continue in their roles as co-directors of the Sustainable Food Lab. The organization will maintain offices in Santa Rosa, California and White River Junction, Vermont.
